Amy Goscha’s Professional Biography

Amy Goscha provides rigorous and supportive counsel at the most critical moments in the life of a family.

Amy has extensive experience in representing clients throughout Colorado in family law and divorce cases. Clients appreciate her ability to steadily move them to the next chapter of their lives, even when it looks different. She appreciates and understands their complex financial and emotional issues, and provides them with grounding to move forward.

Amy brings a specialized approach to clients in the mountains as she remains at the forefront in the family law practice area in Colorado. She provides input on important issues that affect family law through her appointed positions on the Colorado Supreme Court Standing Committee on Family Issues, Colorado Bar Association Executive Council, and Fifth Judicial District Access to Justice Committee.

Knowledge and Skill

Amy began her legal career as a law clerk for the Honorable Judge Angela Arkin in 2008, where she gained experience in complex family law litigation from the court’s perspective. Amy then joined Willoughby & Associates, a prestigious family law and estate planning firm in Denver in September 2008. Amy represented high net worth clients and gained expertise handling complex family law issues.

Amy additionally developed expertise in innovative areas in family law. Amy paved the family law legal framework in Colorado through testifying for the Colorado Senate Judiciary on the Civil Unions Act; establishing parental rights for parents not listed on the birth certificates of children; speaking to judges and attorneys about the issues related to dividing property when dissolving civil unions; and drafting a toolkit in Colorado for lawyers to encourage the offering of an a la carte model of legal representation, known as unbundled/limited scope representation.

Awards and Distinctions

Amy was selected as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers for the past five consecutive years (2013-2017). Less than 2.5% of attorneys receive this honor in Colorado.

In 2014, Amy was selected to serve as an adjunct professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law with the Honorable Judge Angela Arkin. Amy taught Advanced Family Law to third year law students for two consecutive years.

In 2015, Amy was appointed to the Family Issues Standing Committee commissioned by the Colorado Supreme Court. The Family Issues Standing Committee is by invitation only to a select number of stakeholders approved by Colorado Supreme Court Justice Nancy Rice. The Standing Committee addresses important family law issues that affect litigants, the law, and court procedures in Colorado.

In 2016, Amy was awarded the Top 10 Best Under 40 for Client Satisfaction from the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys.

In 2016, Amy was appointed to the Fifth Judicial District Access to Justice Committee. The Committee works on solving issues litigants face in receiving access to resources and the Courts where their disputes are heard.

In 2017, Amy was appointed to the Colorado Bar Association Executive Council.

Amy has a rating of 10 out of 10 from Avvo.com which designates her as a “superb” attorney based on recognition by clients and peers.

Community Involvement

Amy is an active member of the Edwards Rotary Club. She serves as Secretary for the Club. She shares her love for running through her work as a coach for girls to promote self-esteem and athletics.
